Emory Holmes II. Ruth Parson, Jim "Jimmy The Peach" Aaron, Steve Harlow, David King
That may have been Mary's contribution. Everyone had a pretty good take on it, I thought. With the different aspects of how they interpreted that particular phrase. Mary's elegant deconstruction of that 'clunky' line, as she called it, and then Jim's solution to put it on 3 separate lines. All that was very useful for me as a writer to hear that process and to see those elements of it that I could use. That's good to know; it's good to hear that, Emory. When I was looking up some links for doing the shownotes from last time, I realized that a phrase that Brautigan had used in that poem, 'cybernetics' 'cybernetic ecology' I think he used ...that phrase had just been coined maybe a year before he wrote that poem so he was very much attuned...it was coined by a guy, Norbert Wiener from MIT. So he was really attuned to the latest research papers out of MIT to even know what that phrase was. I think he was spending time with the City Lights poets and writers and other intellectual circles. He appeared to be in and where he would be exposed to San Francisco, with Stanford close.
